Our Sharpei Xena developed what we thought to be a skin infection at the age of 9 1/2. She was miserable, lethargic and there is no polite way to describe the sores and her odor... She was down to 27 pounds from her average of 39 pounds. Having been owners of Shar Peis since 1986, we were resigned to the fact that yet another one would die a very hard death. After many months of frustrating diagnosis from other vets and on-line sources, Dr. Angus diagnosed and treated Xena for Pemphigus Foliaceus. Xena is now 12 years old, 41 pounds and incredibly happy for any aged Sharpei. While we know there are no miracles, our family is so lucky to have had more good years with Xena than anyone thought were possible.
