Chica was just over a year old when she came to live with us, her third owners. Her first owners divorced, neither wanted her, so at six months she was sent to a new home. Neglected and bored in a backyard for the next six months, this working dog created her own job - destroying the outdoor furniture. On the way to the German Shepherd Rescue, my neighbors asked if we wanted her. Being a cat household, there was no place for her in our lives. But I offered to take her to parks for a couple of weeks to socialize her with other dogs and people and see if I could find this beautiful, majestic dog a good home. Oops, I did - ours. We had fallen madly in love. (The cats tolerate her!)
