Mona Boord

DVM, Diplomate ACVD, Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist

boord3x41-36.jpg Dr. Mona Boord graduated from the University of California Davis in 1992 and joined the Animal Dermatology Clinic (ADC) in 1993. She completed her residency with ADC and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) in 1997. She is passionate about improving the quality of life of her patients and their families by caring for and improving their skin conditions. To best accomplish this goal she strives to communicate clearly with families about how to best manage their pet’s condition with a long term plan.

Dr. Boord enjoys a challenge has learned to perform specialized surgeries including CO2 laser surgery, paw reconstructions and multiple mass removals. She also gets great pleasure in clearing and managing chronic infections of the paws and ears.

As a Clinical Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences Veterinary School, a residency program mentor for the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, and a Key Opinion Leader speaker nationally and international, Dr. Boord promotes the training of veterinary dermatology. She enjoys teaching students and residents not only the knowledge base they need to assist clients with their pet’s medical condition, but also the technique of clear communication and compassion important for the long term successful management of dermatology cases.

Dr. Boord's publications include contributing author of Kirk's Current Veterinary Therapy XIII, Current Therapy in Equine Medicine V, Small Animal Dermatology Secrets, and Veterinary Allergy, as well as publications in several veterinary journals.

Outside of work, Dr. Boord enjoys competitive performance events with her own dogs including obedience, agility, herding, and tracking.
