Animal Dermatology Clinic Tustin Announces Dr. Russell Muse’s Appointment as the Member-At-Large for the Executive Board of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.


May 27, 2008 – TUSTIN, CA – Animal Dermatology Clinic (ADC) Tustin announces today the appointment of Dr. Russell Muse DVM as the new Member-At-Large on the Executive Board of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD). The executive board of the ACVD oversees the operation of and is the decision making body for the specialty College. This position is a 2 year term. The Member-at-Large position entails Dr. Muse being a liaison between the ACVD Executive Board and the members of the College.

“This is a very important position for the members of the College. The responsibility to ensure the members of the College have a voice with the board of directors is key to our success. With Dr. Russell Muse in this position, we are confident that the voice of the members will be heard,” says Alexis Borich, Executive Secretary of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Dr. Russell Muse received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University in 1989. After graduation, he was in private practice in northern Virginia for 4 years before pursuing specialization in dermatology. Dr. Muse completed his residency at Animal Dermatology Clinic and the University of California-Irvine Department of Dermatology in 1995 and became board certified in 1996.

Dr. Muse is a co-owner of the Animal Dermatology Clinics in Tustin, Marina del Rey, and Pasadena CA, as well as Louisville, KY and Marietta, GA and receives cases at satellite practices in Palm Springs, CA as well as in Maysville, Kentucky. He lectures regionally and nationally to various veterinary groups and in addition assists in teaching a dermatology course annually at Murdoch University School of Veterinary Medicine in Perth Australia.

“I am very excited about being appointed as the Member-at-Large for the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. I certainly see this as an opportunity to continue to serve the College and hopefully to be a small part in the ongoing growth and success of our specialty” says Dr. Muse.

The American College of Veterinary Dermatology is an organization formed under the auspices of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) to certify veterinarians with extensive post-graduation training as specialists in dermatology. The college is charged by the AVMA to maintain the highest standard of training and certification for new veterinary dermatologists.

Founded in 1980 by Dr. Craig Griffin, Animal Dermatology Clinic has the distinction of being the first privately owned facility approved by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology to provide a residency program and the largest group of veterinary dermatologist across the globe.
